Less than an hour's drive from the channel tunnel and the
ports, Claris's offers all its customers friendly, attentive
service. We are an ideal stopping point for those taking short
breaks from Europe but regret that we are unable to accept
coach parties without prior booking.
The half timbered low ceiling tearoom, with fine china and
lace table clothes makes the perfect atmosphere for morning
coffees, light lunches or afternoon teas. We offer a wide
menu (requires

also serve a variety of specialist
teas.
We are a founder member of the Tea Council Guild of Tea Shops
and have won the prestigious Award of Excellence seven times
in the past eight years most recently in 2007.
Our savoury menu offers a selection of snacks ranging from
toasted sandwiches, ploughmans, creamed mushrooms and soup,
all of which are freshly made on the premises to a high standard.
All of our cakes are home made on the premises with the meringues
and coffee walnut cake as our specialities. Our tempting range
also includes coffee walnut, chocolate, lemon madeira, or
fruit cake. Cream teas are a very popular choice with our
customers, consisting of two home made scones with butter,
a jar of preserve, fresh local double cream and a generous
pot of tea. Ice-cream is a popular choice during the summer,
with sundaes made from the finest ingredients and quality
ice-cream.
Claris's Tearoom was invited to join the world renowned Les
Routiers in 2001 and during that same year we were awarded
the Cafe of the Year for the South & South East. A highly
prestigious award which we feel really honoured to have received.
In 2003 and 2004 Clariss Tearoom were again awarded
the highly acclaimed award of Café of the Year for
the London & South East from Les Routiers. The Beverage
Service Association awarded us the 2004 Best Beverage Experience
in the Southeast, and we have been mentioned in publications
as diverse as Waitrose magazine, the Independent Newspaper
supplement as well as the local press and Germany and Luxembourg's
lifestyle magazines.
On warm summer days you can enjoy eating outside in our pretty
patio garden.
We are open Thursday to Sunday from 10.30-17.00 throughout
the year. Please note we are closed on Bank Holiday Mondays.
